Katie Gibson, DVM
Veterinarian
Growing up in Dr. Gibson’s family, training hawks, rehabbing injured wildlife, and being surrounded by dogs was just part of everyday life. However, it was when she struggled to find a veterinarian who knew what a sugar glider was—let alone how to treat it—that she decided that she needed to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Gibson spent her childhood in New Jersey and then moved to North Carolina as a teenager. She went to the University of North Carolina at Asheville for her undergraduate work in biology, and worked as a veterinary assistant throughout college and while also running cross-country and track. She moved to Raleigh to complete her veterinary training at North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2006. Then, Dr. Gibson completed additional training doing a rotating small-animal internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists, where she developed her love for emergency medicine. She was eager to get back to Asheville after school and worked there for eight years as an emergency veterinarian. Dr. Gibson then moved to Las Vegas to start a new adventure and has been here for three years. She is very happy to now call Creature Comforts Animal Hospital home!
Dr. Gibson’s favorite things are emergency medicine, surgery, ultrasound, and exotic animal medicine. She loves the variety of cases that she sees at Creature Comforts, and takes great pride in treating all pets like they are her own.
Dr. Gibson spends most of her time off outdoors. She loves adventure and spends her time hiking, rock climbing, paddle-boarding, and looking for something new to try. Her goal in life is to tire out Aries, her very energetic Australian Shepherd puppy. She also has a sweet old Chow mix named Gabby, as well as Meesha kitty, who is a pretty pretty princess. Her pets are her children, and she’ll treat your pet the same!
