Do you have a kitty? Cats have many great qualities, so it’s no wonder that they are such popular pets. Kitties are fairly easy to care for: providing your furry pal with a good diet, a clean litterbox, and regular veterinary care will see to her basic needs. That said, our feline friends are great at convincing us to pamper them a bit. Below, a NW Las Vegas, NV veterinarian discusses how to spoil your cat.
As we all know, cats love napping. Kitty beds are relatively inexpensive, so get your sleepy furball a few different ones, and place them in various rooms. You can also make your own just by folding up a blanket, or putting a pillow into an empty box or laundry basket.
Kitties love watching birds, squirrels, and people. A great window view can keep your furball entertained for hours! If you really want to go above and beyond, consider putting a bird feeder in your yard, so Fluffy can watch the activity. This recommendation only applies to indoor kitties, of course; otherwise, the poor birds may not fare very well!
Did you know that many cats prefer drinking running water? If Fluffy likes drinking from the faucet, she may really enjoy a little kitty fountain.
Kitty furniture is very popular among our feline friends. Consider getting Fluffy a cat tower to scratch, nap, and play on. You can also offer your furball cozy kitty condos or tents, or even build her a catwalk.
Cats are very good at keeping themselves clean, but many kitties enjoy the feeling of being gently brushed. Try incorporating brushing your furball with petting her, and see if that little motor starts rumbling.
Kitties can be quite frisky! Take time to play with Fluffy every day. Use interactive toys to really get your furball interested and moving.
Catnip mice are a classic kitty toy, and many kitties love them. Catnip bubbles can also be great fun for felines. You can also grow small pots of catnip just for Fluffy.
Sometimes life’s simple pleasures just can’t be beat. Offer your kitty empty boxes or paper grocery bags from time to time.
